Glass Types & Uses
The glazing option you select will determine how successful your new secondary double glazing will be at providing you with the maximum insulation you require. Based upon your choice of the sort of glass you want, these can range from 4mm to 6mm thick float glass, which is perfect for thermal insulation or 6.4mm Thick Stadip Acoustic glass all the way up to 11.5mm thick attaining optimum sound insulation.
Secondary Double Glazing Types
- Verticaly Sliding: This system is commonly used on sash windows, mimicing upper and lower panels with matching meeting rail in the middle.
- Horizontally Sliding: This system can be aplied over casement windows, where two or more panels are required. The panels can be moved side to side as well as being able to be lifted out, allowing full access to original windows.
- Hinged Units: This system can be applied over single casement windows or doors.
- Lift-Out & Fixed Units: Generally appled over windows that rarely require access and are the mosteconomical to produce.
